Urgent Dunnes Stores Recall: 43 Products Recalled Over Salmonella Risk

Irish shoppers are being urged to check their fridges and cupboards after more than 40 products sold at Dunnes Stores were recalled over concerns about possible Salmonella contamination.

The recall affects a range of Baxter & Greene products, including sandwiches, wraps, salads, lunchboxes and sausage rolls. Several products sold through selected Dunnes Stores salad bars are also included in the warning.

The food recall covers 43 Baxter & Greene products containing sesame seeds. The affected foods include both pre-packed items and products sold from salad bars.

Among the recalled foods are popular ready-to-eat options such as turkey and ham dinners, vegetarian nut loaf, gourmet sausage rolls, sandwiches, wraps and several salads.

Some salmon products and lunchboxes are also included in the recall.

These products have a use-by date of August 8, 2026.

Additional salad bar products sold specifically at Ilac and St Stephen's Green are also affected. These include flaked salmon salad with hazelnuts, flaked salmon signature salad with hazelnuts, piri piri chicken salad and turkey signature salad.

Two products sold at Cornelscourt are included as well: B&G Asian Style Chicken & Rice Salad and B&G Baxter & Greene Spiced Carrot & Red Rice Salad.

Why have the Dunnes products been recalled?

The recall was issued because Salmonella was detected in sesame seeds used in the affected foods.

Salmonella is a type of bacteria that can cause food poisoning. People who become infected can develop symptoms including diarrhoea, fever, headache and abdominal cramps.

According to the information supplied with the recall, symptoms commonly develop between 12 and 36 hours after infection, although the incubation period can range from six to 72 hours.

The affected sesame seed products have best-before dates extending into 2027.

Wholesalers and distributors have been asked to contact affected customers and recall the implicated batches. Caterers have also been advised not to use the affected sesame seed products.

Dunnes Stores customers urged to check food at home

The recall is particularly important for customers who regularly buy ready-made lunches, salads and other convenience foods from Dunnes Stores.
